Knowing how to change the startup page on Google Chrome can be a fast track to get where you want on the web faster.
In this post, we will teach you how how to navigate the settings in order make any desired changes.
What is the startup page?
A startup page is the page your browser lands on when you first open the program.
This can be set to any URL you want it to be set to. Some examples are a search engine, your email, or a login portal you use often.
You can also set it to open multiple tabs at once by choosing a specific set of pages instead of just one.
How to change the Startup Page
The first step to changing your startup page is to open your Chrome Browser.
Navigate to the browser options, which are the three dots in the top right of the browser window.
Once there click on the settings option in the drop down menu.
On the left sidebar within the settings click on the “On Startup” option.
Here you will be given 3 options.
- Open to New Tab page
- Continue where you left off
- Open a specific page or set of pages
The new tab page is displayed as a Google home page.
It shows favorite or frequently visited websites.
The continue where you left off option will not close your tabs upon exit. Reopening the browser restores any active tabs.
The open a specific page or set of pages option is where you can have the most customization.
You can either have it open to one webpage of your choosing, or a whole set of pages.
When adding a page here, you should have the URL copied and ready to paste.
Once pasted hit add and this will be the first home page.
If choosing multiple pages the order of tabs will be based on the order that you added each URL.
