Begin by launching the Microsoft Edge browser from your device. The Edge icon looks like a wave and is consistent across all Windows devices. Tap on the icon to open Microsoft Edge, as pictured below from the “Windows Start Menu”

Edge comes pre-installed on all Windows devices. If needed, ensure it’s updated to the latest version through the Microsoft Store. Which is pictured below, the Icon is consistent across devices.

Navigate To Your Desired Website

Go to the website where you want to make a shortcut, like your email provider or a favorite social media platform like Facebook or LinkedIn.

For our demonstration, we’ll use the Wikipedia homepage to illustrate these steps.

Access the Edge Menu

To access the menu in the Edge browser, click on the three horizontal dots located at the top right corner on a computer. The Wikipedia homepage image below shows where to find these “More” options with a red arrow pointing towards them.

In the menu, scroll until you find ‘More tools,’ then select ‘Pin to taskbar’ or ‘Pin to Start’.

After selecting “More tools” and then “Pin to taskbar,” a window will pop up prompting you to name your shortcut. Here we’ve chosen a descriptive name, “Wikipedia,” because it is the webpage used in this example. Once the shortcut is named, click ‘Pin to taskbar’, and with that you have created an Edge Shortcut!
