Education is not the filling of a pail,
but the lighting of a fire.
Wiliam Butler Yeats
Education not only opens individual minds to personal success and happiness, but also elevates entire families and societies. Educated workers have three advantages relative to less-educated ones: higher wages, greater employment stability, and greater upward mobility in income. Today studies show that young Hispanic students have the lowest high school graduation rates in the country and those who graduate are less likely to go to college than their non-Hispanic peers. Often it is for financial reasons that Hispanic youth do not apply to institutions of higher learning.
The Susana de Moya Foundation 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, charitable organization
supported exclusively by volunteers, individual donations and business contributions. Since 2003, the Foundation has been granting scholarships to meritorious under represented minority students in the Maryland/Washington DC area. To date we have awarded 30 scholarships that have allowed students to pursue their aspirations and live up to their potential. We need your help to continue to make this investment in the future of our under represented minority youth. We ask that you make a donation now as we are currently reviewing applicants for the coming 2011-2012 college year.
Together we can send a future leader to college. There is simply no better investment.
We thank you for your support.
